Hampton Greenhouses

We’re delighted to introduce Hampton Greenhouses to OutdoorLiving.ie a collection of beautifully designed timber greenhouses created for people who want more from their garden. These are not simply places to grow tomatoes and seedlings. With their architectural proportions, natural timber, considered detailing and exceptional materials, Hampton Greenhouses are designed to become a real part of the garden somewhere to grow, relax, sit with a coffee, entertain or simply enjoy being outdoors.

Hampton takes its inspiration from the great Victorian glasshouses and the principles of classical architecture, symmetry, proportion and balance. But this isn't about recreating the past.

The design has been carefully brought up to date, combining traditional timber craftsmanship with materials and construction methods designed for modern outdoor life. The result is something that feels established rather than temporary. A building with presence, character and a natural connection to its surroundings. And importantly, it is designed to be enjoyed beyond the growing season.

Premium design means very little without the materials and construction to support it. Hampton takes both seriously. 

• FSC-certified hardwood: Hampton uses carefully selected African hardwood, chosen for its rich, warm grain and exceptional durability. Its natural appearance gives the timber a depth and character that changes beautifully with the garden around it.

• Class 1 durability: The hardwood is rated Class 1 for durability and has been tested to provide 25+ years of life without treatment. The timber is also thermally modified using heat rather than chemicals. This changes the cell structure of the wood, helping to significantly reduce moisture related movement and improve dimensional stability.

• A finish made for the outdoors: Hampton's Tough Coat finish is a two-part, marine-grade coating system with a hardener additive. Rather than simply sitting on the surface, the coating chemically bonds to the timber. The base and top coats are applied within hours of one another so they fuse together to form a tougher, more resilient finish. It is UV stable, scratch resistant and backed by a 10-year guarantee. There are six colours to choose from, allowing your greenhouse to sit naturally within your garden and home.

• A roof designed differently: The roof is one of the most demanding parts of any greenhouse. Hampton's roof system combines powder-coated aluminium externally with timber internally, giving you the protection needed outside while retaining the warmth and character of timber where you see it. It's a small example of the Hampton approach: use the right material where it performs best, without compromising the overall design.

A Hampton Greenhouse doesn't have to be somewhere you only visit when you're tending to plants. Depending on the model and how you choose to furnish it, it can become a quiet place to read, a morning coffee spot, somewhere to entertain friends or simply another room at the edge of your garden. Staging, cold frames, internal dressing, blinds and other options allow you to make the space work for you. And that is what we particularly like about Hampton. The greenhouse is designed around the life you want to have in it.

The Causeway is Hampton’s most distinctive design, a beautifully proportioned timber greenhouse with a bold gable-fronted form and the presence of a true garden pavilion. Created for more than growing, its generous interior can become a place to garden, relax, enjoy a morning coffee or entertain, bringing together horticulture and outdoor living in one beautifully considered structure.

The Balmoral brings a quieter, more refined architectural character to the Hampton collection. Its flush gable front, clean lines and balanced proportions give it a strong presence without overwhelming the garden.

Sharing the footprint of The Dunluce, Balmoral is an excellent choice when you want the scale and growing potential of a large greenhouse, but the space doesn't quite suit the larger Causeway. Beautifully proportioned and made for more than growing, it can become both a productive garden space and a distinctive feature in its own right.

The Dunluce is where the Hampton story begins, a beautifully balanced Victorian-style greenhouse that brings together timeless proportions, elegant simplicity and exceptional growing space. Its traditional end-gable entrance and classic 45° roof pitch give it a distinctive architectural character, while its carefully considered proportions allow it to sit naturally within both formal and more relaxed gardens.

Particularly well suited to gardens where the greenhouse works best end-on, The Dunluce can become a graceful focal point, a productive growing space or simply somewhere to spend a little more time outdoors.

The Strangford takes a different approach to greenhouse design, a refined timber lean-to created for gardens where space is limited or a freestanding greenhouse simply isn't the right fit. Designed to sit neatly against a wall or garden boundary, its clean lines and balanced proportions make clever use of the space available without compromising on the craftsmanship and character Hampton is known for.

Its more compact footprint makes The Strangford particularly suited to courtyards, walled gardens and smaller outdoor spaces, while still providing generous room for growing. And by positioning the greenhouse against an existing wall, you can also benefit from the natural warmth and shelter the surrounding structure provides.

Pictures can show you the design, but they can't quite show you how a Hampton feels when you're standing inside one. Our first Hampton Greenhouse will be on display at the OutdoorLiving.ie showroom in Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow, from November 2026.
